National Assembly meeting taking place today



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament is taking place today at 1:15 pm.

Today’s agenda includes a clause-wise discussion on the ‘Economic Bill, 2082’ and the ‘National Debt Collection Bill, 2082’. These bills were forwarded to the National Assembly by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel with messages from the House of Representatives.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, a tentative plan has been made to endorse the bills and return them to the House of Representatives for further processing.

In parallel, five parliamentary committee meetings are also taking place today. The Finance Committee is scheduled to hold discussions with lawmakers who have proposed amendments to the bill to amend the ‘Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 2073’.

The International Relations and Tourism Committee is meeting to deliberate on the ‘Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2081’. Similarly, the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee has set an agenda to consult with the Nepal Bar Council regarding the ‘Nepal Bar Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081’.

The Women and Social Affairs Committee is convening to review its ongoing activities, while the Infrastructure Development Committee will discuss the ‘Electricity Bill, 2080’, the ‘Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill, 2081’, and the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project.
