Supreme Court issues interim order against strikes in public transport sector

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order prohibiting transport entrepreneurs from enforcing strikes or shutdowns in public transportation services.

The order was issued today by a single bench of Justice Nityananda Pandey, emphasizing that strikes in public transport directly affect the daily lives and constitutional rights of citizens.

The court has also summoned both parties for a hearing to decide whether the interim order should be extended or not.

The order follows a writ petition filed by Advocate Bimal Pokharel, who argued that transport entrepreneurs, by halting public transport services, are violating the constitutional rights of the general public.
