Flood washes away micro-hydropower dam in Sankhuwasabha



KHANDBARI: Continuous rainfall has triggered flooding in Sankhuwasabha’s Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4, sweeping away the dam of a micro-hydropower project located in Wangkhola.

According to police, the flood has completely damaged the main intake of the 8-kilowatt capacity micro-hydropower plant situated in the Gola area of Bhotkhola.

The estimated loss is around Rs 3.3 million. Deputy Superintendent of Police Daksha Kumar Basnet from the District Police Office informed that a police team has reached the remote site on foot, as the location is difficult to access.

It takes two days to reach the site from the district headquarters, Khandbari, so a detailed assessment of the damage will take more time, police said. Further details are being collected.
