Exporters submit 7-point proposal to PM Oli

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Export Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN) has submitted a set of seven recommendations to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, urging the government to prioritize export growth, employment generation, capital formation, and import substitution in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

A delegation led by newly elected FEEN President Govinda Prasad Ghimire presented the memorandum to PM Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.

As Nepal’s economy faces downward pressure, the federation emphasized the need for practical strategies that strengthen the export sector. It also drew attention to previously overlooked areas that require urgent government intervention.

Among the key proposals, the federation emphasized the need to expedite the construction of the International Exhibition Center to attract foreign buyers and promote Nepal’s export goods globally.

Additionally, it recommended declaring the years 2026 to 2030 as “Export Years” in collaboration with the private sector, aiming to boost investment and attract tourism.

Prime Minister Oli, while receiving the proposals, congratulated the new FEEN leadership and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing economic growth, employment, and tourism.

He assured the delegation that the government would seriously consider viable suggestions from the export sector.

PM Oli acknowledged the current limitations in offering direct incentives but emphasized that feasible and practical measures would be explored in partnership with the private sector.
