Adhikari appointed to Governor Recommendation Committee



KATHMANDU: The government has appointed former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari as a member of the Governor Recommendation Committee, which is responsible for recommending candidates to lead Nepal Rastra Bank.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared the decision while announcing the outcomes of a recent cabinet meeting. Adhikari replaces former committee member and ex-governor Bijayanath Bhattarai, who resigned from the post.

Minister Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, provided an overview of several other cabinet decisions. Among them, the government has approved the provision of uniforms for armed forest guards employed on contract under the Ministry of Forest and Environment.

Additionally, the cabinet has promoted one Brigadier General to Major General and two Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General.

To address staffing shortages, the government has authorized the announcement of temporary vacancies at the Health Insurance Board, Geta Hospital, Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital, and Dadeldhura Hospital for the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS.

Other key decisions include approving the Health Insurance Regulation (First Amendment) 2081 BS, Nepal Hajj Committee (Formation and Operation) Order 2081 BS, and the Nepal Smart City Indexes 2081 BS.

The cabinet has also granted permission to present a bill amending the Children Act 2075 BS in the federal parliament.

Lastly, Minister Gurung confirmed that the government will move forward with the implementation of the nine-point agreement recently signed with the Nepal Teachers’ Federation.
