Light to moderate rain likely across hilly regions

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently experiencing the combined influence of westerly and local winds, along with partial impact from moisture-laden air entering from the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Division, rainfall is ongoing in many hilly regions across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been observed in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, skies will remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain, thunder, and gusty winds in some hilly areas of Koshi and Lumbini provinces, as well as isolated parts of other regions. Light snowfall is also expected in some mountainous areas.

Tonight, the hilly regions will remain partly to generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rainfall with lightning is possible in a few hilly locations and in isolated spots elsewhere. One or two mountainous areas may also experience light snowfall.

The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as the expected weather conditions—rain, thunderstorms, and wind—may affect daily life, agriculture, health, as well as road and air transport.
