Rabi Lamichhane announces voluntary arrest, calls it a ‘great injustice’

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has announced that he will surrender himself to the police today, following the High Court’s order to remand him in custody.

Lamichhane, accused in the Supreme Cooperative savings misappropriation case, wrote on social media:
“Respecting the honorable court’s decision, I am surrendering myself immediately. I will knock on every door of justice. This is a great injustice against me. Do not stop the Chitwan rally!”

Following the ruling, police officers, some in plain clothes and others on duty, have reportedly reached his residence to take him into custody.

The order was issued by the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court, presided over by Judges Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli.

The court has also ordered the detention of former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, a co-accused in the case.

Earlier, district courts in Kaski, Rupandehi, and Chitwan had released Lamichhane on bail, while Joshi was ordered into custody by the Rupandehi District Court.
