Repair works underway after Melamchi water pipe bursts in Thapathali

KATHMANDU: Repair works are underway in Thapathali after a Melamchi drinking water pipe burst on Tuesday morning, causing a pothole and flooding the road.

The incident, which blocked the stretch from Thapathali Chowk to Norvic Hospital and Prasuti Griha, occurred less than a month after a similar pipe burst in Babarmahal.

Following the burst, the Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Limited shut off the water supply, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City employees, with the help of a dozer, have been working to clear the road.

On February 12, a drinking water pipe in Babarmahal also burst while a Nepal Electricity Authority technical team was drilling, raising concerns over the durability of the pipeline infrastructure.
