KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda emphasized the urgent need for economic reforms to bring tangible changes in the lives of the people.

Speaking at the 7th annual general assembly of the Nepal National Business Federation in Kathmandu on Saturday, he stressed the importance of creating an investment-friendly environment, boosting production, and promoting trade and business to generate employment opportunities and overhaul the economy.

Highlighting the achievements of Nepal’s federal democratic republican system established after years of political struggle and sacrifice, Prachanda underlined that significant economic reforms are essential to align with the transformed political structure and improve citizens’ living standards.

He further stated that only economic prosperity grounded in social justice can elevate people’s quality of life.

Reflecting on his tenure as Prime Minister, he noted substantial progress in economic reforms, including resolving the nation’s energy crisis, which is regarded as a historic achievement.

Prachanda added that his third term as Prime Minister focused on governance, social justice, and economic prosperity as critical national agendas, turning them into state-led initiatives.

He also urged the government to prioritize implementing the structured economic reform measures and plans introduced by the previous administration, stressing the importance of sustained efforts to ensure the country’s economic development.
