SOLUKHUMBU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Solukhumbu, a key tourist destination contributing significantly to Nepal’s tourism sector.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Nim Dorjee Sherpa Tourism Road in Surke, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-2, PM Oli highlighted plans to strengthen infrastructure in the region.
He emphasized collaboration between the provincial and federal governments for upgrading the tourism road.
“This road will be blacktopped with joint efforts from both governments. The government is dedicated to advancing development initiatives in this district,” Oli said. “Further infrastructure projects will promote tourism and honor the legacy of national heroes like Pasang Lhamu Sherpa and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.”
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding and upgrading road networks in the Khumbu region, aiming to enhance adventure tourism and highlight its cultural significance.
“Solukhumbu is a district filled with tourism potential. As the gateway to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, it has consistently attracted adventure tourists. The government is ready to implement development programs that economically empower the local population,” he added.
PM Oli expressed confidence that upgrading roads and expanding infrastructure will elevate the region’s tourism industry to new heights.
He noted that the Nim Dorjee Sherpa Tourism Road will not only ease transportation for residents but also boost Solukhumbu’s overall economic and social development, with significant contributions to tourism.
