Madhesh Province calls for new government formation following CM Yadav’s resignation



JANAKPURDHAM: Following the resignation of Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav, the provincial head has called for the formation of a new government.

On Wednesday, Province Head Surendra Lal Karna issued the formal call for a new administration. The Chief Minister’s resignation, submitted under Article 169(1)(a) of the Constitution of Nepal, was accepted on December 3, according to the Province Head’s office.

With the resignation accepted, the process to select a new Chief Minister has commenced under Article 168(2) of the Constitution. Members of the Provincial Assembly who can secure majority support, either individually or with the backing of two or more parties, must submit their claim for the Chief Minister position by 5:00 pm on December 5 (Friday).

The office stated that if no valid claim is submitted within the stipulated timeframe, the constitutional procedure for appointing a new Chief Minister will move to the next stage. This process ensures continuity of governance and adherence to constitutional provisions in the province.
