UML 11th General Convention: Nomination process concludes in all districts except two

KATHMANDU: The nomination process for representatives to the 11th General Convention of CPN-UML has concluded in all districts except Okhaldhunga and Dhankuta.

Madhav Dhungel, Secretary of the General Convention Representatives Management Committee, confirmed that nominations in these two districts are yet to be finalized, and elections for representatives there are expected to take place within four days.

An investigation is currently underway into alleged rule violations during the selection of representatives in some districts. Meanwhile, the details of elected representatives are being compiled by the respective provincial committee offices.

The General Convention, scheduled for December 13–15, is expected to witness the participation of around 2,200 representatives. Each representative is required to pay a registration fee of Rs 2,000.

The General Convention will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s leadership structure and policy direction for the upcoming political cycle, with various factions preparing their candidate line-ups and strategies in the run-up to the event.
