Madhesh CM Saroj Kumar Yadav announces resignation after failing to secure vote of confidence

JANAKPURDHAM: Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has announced his resignation after it became clear he would not secure the required vote of confidence.

Yadav made the announcement during the Province Assembly meeting convened on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, the assembly had scheduled a meeting for 8:30 am to conduct the confidence vote, as mandated by the Supreme Court. However, the session was postponed after Chief Minister Yadav did not attend.

With dwindling support and no prospect of winning the vote, Yadav formally stepped down during the afternoon session, ending his tenure as head of the provincial government.
