KATHMANDU: Nepal Nursing Association (NNA) has given the government a 48-hour ultimatum to address the demands of nurses, including salary revision and improved benefits.
Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Association warned that if their demands are not fulfilled within the deadline, nurses across the country will shut down all services except emergency care.
“If our demands are not addressed within 48 hours, we will halt all nursing services except emergency ones in government, private, non-government, medical colleges, and health institutions nationwide,” the statement said.
The Association also warned authorities against exerting any form of pressure, intimidation, or threats on nurses participating in the protest.
Earlier, during a meeting with the Ministry of Health and Population on October 31, the Association had reached a partial agreement to ensure minimum wages equivalent to those of government employees. However, several other demands remained unresolved, prompting nurses to surround the Association’s central office in protest.
Following Sunday’s discussions, the NNA and protesting nurses agreed to intensify their movement if the government fails to respond to their demands within the next 48 hours.
