President Paudel leaving for Qatar today

To address the Second World Summit for Social Development, taking place in Doha



KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel is leaving for Qatar today (Monday) to attend the Second World Summit for Social Development, taking place in Doha from November 4 to 6.

The visit comes at the invitation of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, according to Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Paudel will lead a 12-member Nepali delegation and is scheduled to address the plenary session and the high-level roundtable of the summit on November 4.

During the visit, he is also expected to hold meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the Amir of Qatar, as well as other world leaders attending the summit.

The event aims to reaffirm global commitments to social development, focusing on cooperation, reducing development inequalities, addressing demographic imbalances, and examining the social impacts of technology. The first World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.
