Mahesh Basnet warns government against politics of retaliation

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has warned the government not to engage in politics of retaliation.

In a social media post, Basnet cautioned that if investigations are driven by revenge, there would be strong resistance. He further remarked that such moves could complicate the situation.

Citing examples of Thaksin Shinawatra in Thailand and Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar, Basnet argued that decisions based on retaliation by those in power never yield positive outcomes.

He also emphasized that in Nepal, whatever has occurred in the name of the Gen-Z movement must be subjected to fair and independent investigation.
