NHRC calls for reports on child marriage impact

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for submission of reports and documents related to the impact of child marriage on human rights as part of a nationwide inquiry.

The commission said the study aims to assess and review the multidimensional adverse effects of child marriage on basic rights including education, health, protection from violence, and overall human rights.

In a public notice, the NHRC urged the federal, provincial and local governments, civil society organizations, research bodies, and international agencies to share their research papers, policy reviews, evaluation reports, or any other relevant documents related to child marriage in Nepal.

It further requested stakeholders to provide reports that analyze policies, assess practices, and highlight how child marriage has affected the exercise of human rights in the country.

Interested individuals and institutions can submit the documents via email to the NHRC, or directly at its central, provincial, or branch offices, the notice stated.
