Lack of quorum in HoR stops decision on bills

KATHMANDU: A proposal seeking consider the ‘Nepal Veterinary Council (First Amendment) Bill, 2082’ could not be decided upon in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives due to lack of quorum.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari had presented the proposal.

After Speaker Devraj Ghimire presented the proposal for a decision, CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey demanded to check the quorum, which found that only 49 lawmakers were present.

According to Article 94 of the Constitution, one-fourth of the total number of members, i.e. 69 lawmakers, must be present to pass any proposal.
