Land Revenue Office official arrested with bribe money in Dhulikhel

KATHMANDU: Gyanendra Prasad Bhandari, a non-gazetted officer at the Land Revenue Office in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok, was arrested today with a bribe of Rs 200,000.

Bhandari was caught red-handed by a team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). He had taken the bribe from a client to register a plot of land in their name. The land, located in the former Dolalghat Village Development Committee, Ward 7 of Kavre, was previously left unregistered in the field book.

The CIAA team was dispatched from its central office in Tangal after receiving a tip-off about Bhandari’s illicit activity. According to CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel, Bhandari was arrested inside the Land Revenue Office with the bribe money and a mobile phone.
