Heavy rain forecast in hilly parts of Koshi, Terai, and Bagmati

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast continued monsoon activity across the country, with increased chances of rainfall in several regions.

The monsoon low-pressure trough currently lies south of its average position, influencing weather patterns nationwide.

As a result, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon, with the possibility of moderate rain in some hilly areas and parts of the Terai, including Lumbini Province.

Tonight, the hilly regions of Koshi and Madhes Provinces are likely to see generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will experience partial cloud cover.

Moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, along with other hilly regions. One or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, the Terai, and Bagmati Provinces may experience heavy rainfall.

The Division has urged the public to remain vigilant, warning of possible landslides and debris flows. Rising water levels in rivers and streams could pose additional risks, potentially affecting transportation routes.
