NEPSE suffers sharp decline amid ongoing economic concerns



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), which had seen a recent surge following monetary policy easing despite little improvement in the broader economy, experienced a sharp drop in trading on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.

The NEPSE index plummeted by 63.73 points, with a total turnover of Rs 13.75 billion.

Out of the traded companies, share prices of 233 firms declined, while only 16 companies saw gains. As a result of the sharp downturn, market capitalization dropped by 2.18 percent.

All sectoral sub-indices closed in the red, with the Life Insurance subgroup recording the steepest fall, dropping by 297 points, making it the most affected sector of the day.
