Water level rising at Triyuga Gaighat and Modi Beni hydrometers

KATHMANDU: The water level at the Triyuga Gaighat Hydrometer in Udayapur has crossed the alert threshold and continues to rise.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged residents to take precautions, as low-lying and riverside areas are prone to flooding.

Similarly, the water level at the Modi Beni Hydrometer on the Kaligandaki River in Parbat district is near the alert level and rising, increasing the risk of landslides in coastal areas and unstable, steep terrain.

The Department has reported that monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, with the monsoon’s low-pressure line positioned slightly north of the mean sea level.

Widespread cloud cover is expected this afternoon, with moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in many areas across all provinces.

Heavy rain is possible in one or two locations in the Terai regions of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
