Bhojpur’s Panchdhare Bazaar at risk as landslides threaten settlement

BHOJPUR: Panchdhare Bazaar in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-9, Bhojpur, is facing a serious risk of landslides after the ground on the hill above the settlement began to crack and slide.

Ward Chairman Navaraj Mangpahang confirmed that the situation has worsened due to stone excavation on the hillside above the market, which has destabilized the terrain.

“Landslides are currently ongoing. If heavy monsoon rains occur, the entire settlement could be in danger,” he warned.

According to Chairman Mangpahang, eight houses in the market area are at immediate risk. He also stated that, although the police have submitted a report to the concerned authorities regarding the damage and potential disaster, there has been no response so far.

Landslides continue to occur in the areas where the ground has cracked. Chairman Mangpahang stressed that without timely intervention, the risk of large-scale destruction remains high.
