22 species of seedlings distributed to Tanahu farmers



DAMAULI: The Division Forest Office, Tanahu has distributed 22 different species of seedlings free of cost to farmers in the district, aiming to support the sustainable management of paddy fields and promote agroforestry.

The office has set a target of distributing 40,000 seedlings this year. According to Assistant Forest Officer Rajkumar Shrestha, the distributed species include Chap, Khayar, Neem, Chiuri, Katahar, Bakaino, Raikhanyu, Nimaro, Amla, Harro, Timur, Badhar, Tejpat, Kurilo, Kapur, Dhupi, Ashoka, Bel, Var, Peepal, Mangosteen, and Kalkiphool. These seedlings were produced in the office’s own nursery.

Last fiscal year, the office had distributed 82,000 seedlings. Tanahun district has about 72,080 hectares of forest area, with a total of 616 community forests and 485 leasehold forests spread across the region.
