Cloudy and rainy weather expected to continue today



KATHMANDU: Cloudy and rainy conditions have persisted in various parts of the country over the past few days, and this trend is expected to continue today (Tuesday), according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

According to the Division, this afternoon skies will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country.

There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Koshi, Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces, as well as at a few locations in other regions.

Light rain or snowfall is also possible in several high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Sudurpaschim Provinces, along with isolated spots in other mountainous regions.

Tonight, the weather will continue to be partly to generally cloudy nationwide.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in parts of Koshi Province and at a few locations in the hilly areas of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces.

Light rain or snowfall is also possible at isolated locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas.

Meteorologists categorize rainfall amounts as follows: light rain refers to less than 10 millimeters of rain within 24 hours; moderate rain ranges from 10 to 50 millimeters; heavy rain is 50 to 100 millimeters; very heavy rain falls between 100 and 200 millimeters; and extremely heavy rain is more than 200 millimeters.
