KATHMANDU:  Bhupdev Shah, Chief Secretary to Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah, has warned that anyone who forcibly reinstates Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain should be ready to go to jail.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Shah said that breaking the office lock to allow Guragain to enter his workplace was a serious matter.

Guragain returned to work after 3 months and 14 days, but Mayor Balen had deployed municipal police to prevent his reinstatement.

Despite this, some employees allegedly broke the lock and allowed Guragain to enter.

Shah accused the federal government of protecting a corruption suspect, stating, “A two-thirds majority government is backing a corrupt individual. The Federal Affairs and Administration Ministry is directly involved in forcing his reinstatement.”

He further warned that since both the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) are already investigating the case, anyone involved in reinstating Guragain should be prepared for legal consequences if he is found guilty.

Shah also claimed that Guragain had previously requested a transfer, but the ministry forcibly reinstated him out of arrogance.
