KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are heading to Singha Durbar to meet Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh regarding the recent violent clashes during their protest at Tinkune on March 28.
RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden, Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi, and other senior party members are seeking an investigation into the incident, in which the party claims state forces escalated violence against demonstrators.
As Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is currently in Bangkok, Thailand, the RPP delegation will present its concerns to Acting PM Singh. The party has been demanding an inquiry into the use of force during the protest, which resulted in multiple injuries.
During the protest, which was part of a royalist movement, clashes broke out between demonstrators and security forces.
Police reportedly fired bullets and tear gas to control the situation, injuring at least 20 protesters, while some security personnel were also hurt in the confrontation.
