Hazy weather to continue in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley remains shrouded in a thick haze, with air pollution continuing to affect visibility and air quality. According to meteorologists, the hazy conditions are expected to persist for a few more days before gradually clearing.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan stated that while there is no likelihood of rainfall in the valley, an improvement in wind speed will help disperse the haze by Friday.

“The haze is slowly clearing, but it will take a couple of days before we see significant improvement,” she said.

The current weather pattern is influenced by westerly and local winds, which have caused partial cloud cover in the hilly regions, including Lumbini Province. However, these winds have not been strong enough to immediately clear the valley’s air.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu experienced a slight dip in temperature compared to yesterday. However, meteorologists predict that temperatures will rise again in the coming days, making conditions warmer.

The air pollution in the valley remains a concern, with haze limiting visibility and potentially posing health risks. Residents, especially those with respiratory conditions, are advised to take precautions and limit outdoor activities when possible.

Authorities and environmental experts have been urging long-term measures to address worsening air quality in Kathmandu, including stricter emission controls and increased green spaces to combat pollution.
