Chhapeli Majhakhanda Cable Car to be completed in 18 months

PATAN:  Foundation stone for a cable car to be established in southern Lalitpur has been laid today.

The cable car connecting Ward No. 3 to Ward No. 5 of  Bagmati Rural Municipality will be 2.8 kilometers long.

Destination Majhkhanda Pvt. Ltd. is constructing the cable car and has plans to set up hotel, fun park, etc. with an investment of around Rs 1.2 billion, according to Gopal Sanjel, Chairperson of the company.

The company aims to complete the construction of the cable car in the next 18 months.

Laying the foundation stone earlier today, Member of the House of Representatives Udaya Shamsher Rana has said that the southern part of Lalitpur can also be an attractive destination in terms of tourism.

“The potential for tourism here is strong, all political parties and public representatives should be committed to it and market it professionally,” he said.

He said that the Kanti highway would be fully operational by next year and informed that a survey is being conducted with the active participation of JICA and others to reduce the risk of landslides in seven different locations of the highway.
