KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has expressed her condolences over the passing of former US President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter, honoring his enduring legacy of peace and democracy.
On Friday, Minister Rana visited the US Embassy in Kathmandu to sign a condolence book dedicated to Carter’s memory.
She paid tribute to the late President on behalf of the Nepali people, the Government of Nepal, and herself, offering heartfelt condolences to his family.
Carter, the 39th President of the United States and founder of the Carter Center, passed away on December 29 at the age of 100.
In her condolence message, Minister Rana described Carter as a “democratic leader and a true friend of Nepal.”
She highlighted his exemplary contributions to philanthropy, peace, and democracy, noting his enduring commitment to human rights and democratic values both as a statesman and through the Carter Center.
Minister Rana also recalled Carter’s visits to Nepal in 2007 and 2013 during the Constituent Assembly elections.
She also spoke of Carter’s unwavering support for Nepal’s peace and democratic processes, describing him as a steadfast well-wisher of the nation.
