Oli expresses dissatisfaction over Supreme Court order on Madhesh Chief Minister

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court’s interim order directing the Madhesh Province Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence within 24 hours.

Speaking at the launch of a publication titled Forest, Environment and Climate Change Resource Book, organized by the UML’s Forest and Environment Department in Chyasal on Tuesday, Oli said that the court’s order in the case filed against Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav contradicts the constitution.

He argued that the constitution clearly states that a newly formed provincial government must seek a vote of confidence within one month, insisting that the court’s directive goes against constitutional provisions.

While stating that he respects judicial decisions, Oli stressed that the court must base its verdicts on the constitution, law, and justice rather than individual preferences.

Oli also commented on the ongoing Gen-Z movement, saying some individuals are trying to benefit politically by labeling it as a “revolution.”

Repeating his earlier stance that the dissolution of the House of Representatives was the result of an unconstitutional recommendation, he reiterated that reinstatement of the House was necessary to restore constitutional order.

The UML chair further claimed that his party is facing continuous attacks because it is the only party working in the nation’s interest.
