Education Minister Pun mocks Mahesh Basnet’s criticism of ministers

KATHMANDU: Education Minister Mahabir Pun has sharply responded to social media remarks made by Mahesh Basnet, who had criticized Energy Minister Kulman Ghising and Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal.

Sharing Basnet’s Facebook post, Pun mocked the former minister for claiming credit for making Nepal like heaven. Addressing Basnet as his brother, Pun wrote “You keep boasting that you’ve made Nepal a heaven, prosperous and corruption‑free. Hearing all that just makes me laugh. What are you even saying, brother?”

Pun’s comments underline the growing tension between political figures on social media over public service and governance issues.
