1,892 new voters added in Dadeldhura

DADELDHURA: A total of 1,892 new voters have been added to the electoral roll in Dadeldhura following the Election Commission’s call for eligible citizens, those aged 16 and above with citizenship certificates, to register their names beginning September 26.

According to Karunakar Awasthi, Chief of the District Election Office, 1,272 applicants submitted their details online to obtain voter identity cards, while 620 individuals were registered using biometric data.

During the voter roll update period for the House of Representatives elections, as many as 76 people applied online to correct personal details, and 325 applied to transfer their voter registration.

The district currently has 45,983 female voters and 45,936 male voters. Awasthi said preparations for the upcoming election on March 5, 2026 are underway, with work ongoing to update voter records and reorganize polling centers.

The office has recommended adding four new polling stations in the district. While Dadeldhura had 139 polling stations and 101 polling centers in the 2079 BS election, a proposal has been sent to the Election Commission to remove one old polling station and add four new ones this cycle.
