NEPSE index rises 1.18%, finance sector leads gains



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 30.75 points today, closing at 2,631.14, marking an increase of 1.18 percent.

A total of 29.738 million shares of 319 companies were traded 68,112 times, generating a turnover of Rs 9.20 billion. While the trade group fell by 1.10 percent, all other sub-indices recorded gains.

The finance group led the gains, rising 5.17 percent, followed by life insurance at 4.35 percent. Other sectoral increases included banking 0.29%, development banks 0.90%, hotels and tourism 1.20%, hydropower 1.18%, investment 0.80%, production and processing 0.96%, microfinance 1.38%, mutual funds 0.10%, non-life insurance 1.33%, and other groups 1.23%.

Among individual stocks, Community Microfinance Financial Institution Limited, Gurans Finance Limited, Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited, People’s Power Limited, and Tehrathum Power Company Limited hit positive circuits, while Khanikhola Hydropower Company Limited saw the largest decline, down 4.76 percent.
