KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee meeting, originally scheduled for 1 pm on Sunday, has been postponed at the last minute.
The meeting, which was also not held on Friday, has been deferred amid ongoing disputes over the date of the party’s 15th General Convention. An effort to reach a consensus at a meeting of office bearers in Sanepa on Saturday failed.
General Secretary Bishwaprakash Sharma had proposed that General Committee members vote on whether the convention should be held before or after elections, while the establishment faction presented a different agenda.
Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka is set to hold discussions with top leaders, including the two General Secretaries, to seek agreement on the agenda.
The postponed meeting is now scheduled for 1 pm on November 4. NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel requested the presence of all Central Working Committee office bearers, members, invited members, and the seven provincial chairpersons.
