Communication facilities lacking in Humla’s Lapcha

HUMLA: The lack of communication facilities has created difficulties in Lapcha, a tourist destination in Limi, northern Namkha Rural Municipality-6, Humla.

Tourists visiting the area face problems due to the absence of mobile and internet services. From Lapcha, visitors can easily access the holy Mansarovar-Kailash pilgrimage site in China.

Although three villages in the Limi Valley—Halji, Tilar, and Jang—have phone services, Lapcha remains without any communication facility. Ward Chairman Paljor Tamang said that the introduction of 4G internet service in Lapcha would make life easier for everyone.

After visiting Mansarovar-Kailash from Nepali territory via Lapcha, tourists have no communication facility in Takchi, where they stay. While the rural municipality has initiated plans to install a 4G tower in Limi, it has not yet been feasible, according to Rural Municipality Chairman Prem Lama.

Mansarovar-Kailash can be accessed from Nepali land via Lapcha for six months each year.
