Food Management Company begins purchasing rice

KANCHANPUR: The Food Management and Trade Company has begun purchasing rice from farmers starting today. According to Branch Chief Mahi Karan Mahara, the company is buying rice at the government-set support price.

This year, the company plans to purchase five quintals of rice from Kanchanpur district, with the possibility of increasing the quantity as needed. Mahara acknowledged that the company had fallen short of its target in previous years.

Last year, the company had aimed to buy 15,000 quintals of rice but managed to procure only about 20 percent of that goal—2,951 quintals.
