Social Security Fund deposits surpass Rs 94 billion

KATHMANDU: The Social Security Fund has amassed a total of Rs 94.09 billion to date, according to the latest figures. Of this, Rs 17.29 billion has been distributed to contributors through various schemes.

The Fund currently has 2,592,141 registered contributors and 22,125 registered employers nationwide, with ongoing efforts to bring more employers into the system.

Among the total payouts, Rs 2.42 billion went to medical, health, and maternity benefits, Rs 223 million to accident and disability coverage, Rs 283 million to dependent family support, and Rs 14.36 billion for retirement claims.

Officials noted that the Fund’s increasing deposits and broader coverage reflect growing participation from both employees and employers, signaling that social security is gradually becoming a more established part of Nepal’s labor system.
