Nepal women’s cricket team lose to Malaysia by 3 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s women’s national cricket team faced a narrow 3-run defeat against Malaysia in the opening T20 International of the series at Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur.

Chasing a target of 105 runs, Nepal managed 101 for 7 in 20 overs. Despite needing 7 runs in the final over with Kavita Joshi and Rajmati Airee at the crease, Nepal could only add 3 runs.

For Nepal, Puja Mahato top-scored with 30 runs, followed by Samjhana Khadka with 18, Kavita Joshi unbeaten on 13, and captain Indu Barma with 12.

Malaysia’s Nur Dania Syuhada shone with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 10 runs in 4 overs, while captain Winifred Duraisingam and Aisah Elisha claimed 2 wickets each.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Malaysia posted 104 for 5 in 20 overs. Duraisingam scored 27, Ainna Hashim 26, and Mas Elysa 25. For Nepal, Somu Bista took 2 wickets while Rubina Chhetri claimed 1.
