KATHMANDU: Police have made it clear they will not halt their ongoing campaign against criminal activities in the capital.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishwa Adhikari, chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, said operations are being carried out across the city to dismantle the networks of known gangsters.
“Gangsters will not be allowed space to operate,” SSP Adhikari said. “Our operation is ongoing, and we have already compiled a list of those involved in such unwanted activities in Kathmandu. They will be tracked down and brought under the ambit of legal action.”
As part of the crackdown, police on Friday arrested 47 people from Hotel Sambala in Maharajgunj. Among them, 19, including notorious gangster Milan Gurung, also known as “Chakre Milan”, have been charged with offenses against public interest. Police have been granted a seven-day extension to investigate them.
The remaining 28 individuals were released on the condition that they report to the police when required, while investigations into their activities are still underway.
The Kathmandu District Police Range said the operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office to curb criminal activities in the capital.
