Sindhuli section of Mid-Hill Highway blocked due to landslides

SINDHULI: The Sindhuli section of the Mid-Hill Highway has remained blocked since this morning due to landslides and mudslides triggered by continuous rainfall.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Suryaksha Subedi of the District Police Office, Sindhuli, a mudslide in Akrebhir, Golanjor Rural Municipality-6, disrupted traffic flow.

A six-wheeled truck (Na 7 Kha 7890) carrying 11 buffaloes from Okhaldhunga to Kathmandu became stuck in the mud, and efforts are currently underway to remove it. Three other trucks are reportedly stranded at various points along the highway.

Additionally, a landslide from above the road has blocked another part of the highway in Baleni, also within Golanjor-6. As a result, vehicular movement on the Khurkot–Ghurmi road section has come to a halt, with many vehicles stuck in Khurkot.

Travelers heading to Kathmandu from eastern districts such as Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, and Bhojpur are expected to face delays.

Police said clearance work is ongoing to remove the landslide debris. Rainfall has continued in the region since last night, further complicating the situation.
