BHOJPUR: Ninety-five percent of households in Khoksik, Ward No. 8 of Ramprasadrai Rural Municipality in southern Bhojpur, now have access to electricity from the national grid.
This significant achievement in a geographically remote area has been made possible due to the active efforts of the ward office.
Ward Chairperson Bach Kumar Rai said they began the electrification project from scratch and have now reached 95 percent coverage. He expressed hope that the ward will be declared a “bright ward” within the current fiscal year by extending electricity to the remaining households.
“We started from zero and have now reached the final stage of electrification. Our goal is to light every home in the ward this year,” he stated.
Local resident Dil Kumar Yogi shared that with the arrival of electricity, the long-standing reliance on flashlights, lanterns, and solar panels has finally ended.
“Now that we have electricity, our daily work, including grinding grains, has become much easier,” he said. “It’s a joy to see electric lights flickering in our village after all these years.”
Another resident, Dal Bahadur Rai, noted that even though Khoksik is a remote area, access to the national grid has made it easier to connect with the outside world.
“Now we can use the internet and watch television to get updates from Nepal and abroad,” he said. “Life in the village has become more convenient, and children can study more comfortably.”
The extension of electricity has not only improved the quality of life in Khoksik but has also helped bridge the gap between rural and urban access to essential services.
