Tarun Dal’s general convention set for December 12–14

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to hold the general convention of its youth wing, Nepal Tarun Dal, from December 12–14 this year.

According to the party, the term of the current central committee of Tarun Dal has been extended until the convention, in line with the directive committee’s proposal to mandatorily conduct the event within that timeframe.

To facilitate logistical preparations, a smaller internal management committee will be formed within the existing central committee, Congress Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel informed.

The directive committee has also been entrusted with the full responsibility of organizing the convention.

The announcement comes as the 80-hour hunger strike staged at the NC central office in Sanepa—demanding timely organization of the convention—was called off today after an agreement was reached.

Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa played key roles in ending the strike.

Meanwhile, the central working committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, ongoing since June 30, continued under the leadership of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Today’s meeting saw inputs from central members including Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Shiva Prasad Humagain, Karn Bahadur Budha, Govinda Bahadur Shah, Rajendra Kumar KC, E Mohan Acharya, Rangmati Shahi, Kantika Sejuwal, and Bidhya Devi Timilsina, along with provincial presidents Uddhav Thapa (Koshi), Krishna Prasad Yadav (Madhes), Indra Bahadur Baniya (Bagmati), Amar Singh Pun (Lumbini), Lalit Jung Shahi (Karnali), and Veer Bahadur Balayar (Sudurpaschim).

As discussions on several internal proposals are still ongoing, the next session of the working committee meeting has been scheduled for July 3 at 12:30 PM at the party headquarters.
