Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari returns all state facilities



KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has formally requested the government to withdraw all state-provided facilities granted to her as a former head of state.

According to sources close to Bhandari, she submitted a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking to return all privileges effective from today.

“All state facilities provided to the former president are being returned as of today. A formal request has been sent to the Home Ministry,” a source close to Bhandari said.

As a former president, Bhandari was entitled to various lifelong services and perks including security, residence, staff support, and transportation, as per existing law. The reason behind her decision to forgo these facilities has not been made public.
