KATHMANDU: The Nepal Teachers Federation has launched an indefinite Kathmandu-centric protest, demanding the swift enactment of the School Education Act.

On Wednesday, teachers marched from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwor as part of their escalating movement.

The federation, which has been advocating for educational reforms since February 2, has been pressuring the government to pass the School Education Bill currently under discussion in parliament.

Federation President Laxmi Kishor Subedi highlighted that the movement seeks a progressive education law that prioritizes quality education, students’ welfare, and teachers’ rights.

He stated that teachers and education sector employees from across the country have joined the protest and will not leave Kathmandu until their demands are met.
