Herbal Production and Processing Company reports damages of Rs 280 million following arson

KATHMANDU: The Koteshwor-based Herbal Production and Processing Company Limited has suffered damages worth approximately Rs 280 million after royalist supporters set fire to its facility last Friday.

The arson and vandalism, which took place on March 28, completely destroyed the building and laboratory where Sancho is produced.

According to the company’s General Manager Sangeeta Yadav, a detailed assessment of the losses is yet to be conducted. However, the initial estimates suggest significant damage.

She further mentioned that while the incident has disrupted production, the company plans to continue manufacturing Sancho from its other branches to minimize the impact.

Yadav expressed determination to rebuild, stating that although the fire reduced the company to ashes, it will rise again with the support of the government and the public.

The state-owned Herbal Products and Processing Company Limited, established in 1981, has been focusing on expanding its branches. However, Yadav confirmed that the expansion plans will be put on hold temporarily due to the destruction.

Despite the setback, the company remains committed to introducing new products, including pure honey and turmeric, as part of its long-term strategy.
