KATHMANDU: Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Supermarket, has strongly condemned the acts of arson, looting, and vandalism that occurred during the royalist protest last Friday.
He specifically highlighted the role of security guard Dul Prasad (Krishna) Parajuli, who bravely defended the Koteshwor branch of Bhatbhateni Supermarket during the violent incident. Gurung expressed his admiration for Parajuli’s courage in repelling the looters, ensuring minimal damage to the supermarket.
In his statement, Gurung also criticized the state for failing to address the actions of Durga Prasai, an individual he believes has contributed to the ongoing societal unrest. He called for the government to take stronger action to control such anarchic activities and ensure the safety and security of businesses and citizens alike.
Gurung highlighted the changes brought by the looters are unwelcome and noted that Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Koteshwor suffered an estimated loss of around Rs 8 million during the protest-related looting.
In light of the incident, Gurung honored security guard Parajuli and others who had been instrumental in the supermarket’s defense. Parajuli was awarded a cash prize of 501,111 rupees and was promoted five grades for his heroic actions.
At the event, which was held at the Koteshwor branch of Bhatbhateni on Wednesday, Parajuli expressed gratitude for the recognition and acknowledged the collective effort of the entire security team in fighting off the robbers.
Gurung also announced financial support for the families of two individuals who tragically lost their lives during the protest on March 28.
