MUGU: The Nagma-Gamgadhi road, which has been blocked due to snowfall since Thursday, is yet to be opened.

The Road Division Office, Jumla, has started clearing the snow using excavators, but it is taking time to clear it due to heavy snow.

Shiva Chandra Karki, a local of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-5, said the road has been obstructed due to heavy snow accumulation, landslides and fallen electric poles in some places.

According to Karki, tourists and vehicles coming to Rara have been stranded on the way due to landslide on the Jia-Bulbule section of the Karnali Highway.

The Road Division Office, Jumla, along with its excavators, and the Nepali Army are working to remove the obstruction and open the road.

Chief District Officer Kamal Prasad Pandey said that work is underway to remove the obstruction of the road by this evening. Vehicular movement on the road at Bhulbhule, Siptichaur and Satmod of the district is becoming difficult.

Seventeen Mugu-bound vehicles and passengers have been stuck on the road for the past three days due to the snowfall, said Shiva Chandra Karki, a Mugu-bound passenger, over the phone.
