Govt investigating Shera Palace linked to former PM Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has announced that a serious investigation is underway regarding the Shera Palace in Nuwakot, which has been linked to former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Speaking at a meeting of the State Management and Good Governance Committee of the Federal Parliament on Thursday, Lekhak assured that if the palace was illegally transferred to an individual’s name, it would be restored.

“A serious study is being conducted on the Shera Palace. If it was illegally transferred to someone’s name, it will be returned,” he said in response to a query raised by CPN-UML MP Basudev Ghimire.

Ghimire sought clarification on the matter, asking, “What happened to the Shera Palace? The Home Minister needs to clarify.”

During the meeting, Maoist Center Chairman and former Prime Minister Dahal supported the initiative, stating that the land should be returned if there were any legal violations.

“If there is any illegal activity regarding the land of Shera Durbar, it should be brought back. I thank the government,” Dahal said.

In response, Home Minister Lekhak urged everyone to be ready to express gratitude to the government, adding, “If it was taken illegally, it will be returned. That is why people should be ready to thank the government.”

The investigation aims to determine whether the transfer of the palace’s ownership adhered to legal procedures.
