India–Nepal Startup Partnership Network launched to boost cross-border collaboration

KATHMANDU: A new initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration between startups in India and Nepal has been launched under the name India–Nepal Startup Partnership Network (IN-SPAN).

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the program invites applications from innovative and transformative Nepali entrepreneurs to participate in an eight-week fully funded training and innovation program at IIT Madras, in association with IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITM Pravartak).

IITM Pravartak, one of India’s leading incubators, has supported 46 startups so far, of which 14 have successfully commercialized their technologies. The program promises hands-on learning, mentorship from experts, and internship opportunities to help participants translate their ideas into viable ventures.

The initiative builds upon the success of two previous India–Nepal Startup Connect events , the first Startup Connect and the second Startup Mahakumbh, organized by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

Through IN-SPAN, Nepali startups will gain access to high-level training, mentorship, and industry exposure at India’s premier innovation hubs. The initiative aims to foster practical collaboration between young entrepreneurs of both countries, promoting shared growth in the regional startup ecosystem.

Participants will be selected through a competitive process based on applications and interviews, ensuring that only the most promising and motivated startups are chosen. Applications will remain open from November 1 to 15, 2025, according to the announcement.
